After rejecting Brazil, Mourinho receives a new offer to coach the 2026 World Cup!

Sky Sports revealed that current Fenerbahçe coach Jose Mourinho may coach one of the national teams at the 2026 World Cup.

The Portuguese coach had just rejected an offer from the Brazilian Football Confederation to succeed Dorival Junior as coach of the Seleção, wanting to continue his project with Fenerbahçe.

According to the latest report, the “Special One” is now the focus of attention in his native Portugal, as coach Roberto Martinez is expected to be sacked soon.

The Spanish coach is currently on probation, and if he fails to advance beyond the UEFA Nations League semi-finals next June, he will be sacked immediately.

In that case, the Portuguese Football Federation would resort to the ideal option of hiring Mourinho, knowing that officials are willing to pay his release clause with Fenerbahçe and try to convince him to take this step.

After the 2022 World Cup, the Portuguese national team offered Mourinho the position of coach, but the coach declined the offer due to his work in Roma. He later stated that he deeply regretted it.

It’s worth noting that during his first season with Fenerbahçe, Mourinho failed to win any trophies, exiting the Turkish Cup and the Europa League, and effectively losing the Turkish League by five points to Galatasaray.
