Bournemouth defender Dejan Huijsen is attracting interest from most of the world’s top clubs, including Real Madrid, but the club is somewhat hesitant to enter the race to sign the player.
Huijsen can only leave Bournemouth next summer for €58 million, the value of his release clause with the English club.
According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid has not yet decided whether to sign a new center-back next summer.
Real Madrid currently has Antonio Rudiger, Raúl Asensio, and David Alaba, and Éder Militao is expected to return soon. Florentino Pérez’s administration will likely not attempt to sign Huijsen unless one of the four departs or is injured.
Merengue officials value Huijsen highly, but there are also doubts that a player who is still only 19 years old is worth paying up to €60 million for.
As for the Spanish defender, Real Madrid remains a tempting option for him, even though some close to him have suggested he’s more likely to stay in the Premier League even if Los Blancos try to sign him.
There’s a battle between Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal for the services of the former Juventus defender. Bayern Munich is also interested, but the Bavarians are waiting to offload one of their defenders before entering negotiations with the player.
It’s worth noting that in previous statements, Heussen expressed his appreciation for Real Madrid’s interest in him and considered playing for the biggest club in the world a great honor, but he left the door open to all options.
