Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, stressed that his team’s coach, Luis Enrique, has full authority to make all technical decisions, including removing Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe recently dropped from Enrique’s accounts in the French League and was being replaced mainly, and the Spanish coach considered that the reason for this was to prepare for the post-player era in the Parc des Princes.
Mbappe participated in Real Sociedad’s last match in the Champions League in its entirety, and scored two goals that led his team to reach the quarter-finals, after which Al-Khelaifi came out and talked about various matters.
When asked about Enrique’s decisions against Mbappe, he replied, “The decision is always up to the coach and we absolutely support him, and this is the most important thing.”
He also added, “Kylian will remain Kilian. He is one of the best players in the world, but today the entire team gave a great performance. Qualifying was not easy and we are very happy with this achievement.”
As for rumors that Mbappe will leave at the end of the season, Al-Khelaifi said, “I cannot confirm Mbappe’s departure. If there is something like this, the club will announce it in an official statement.”
He concluded, “We are working on a plan for the future, and nothing is more evident than the fact that we played with the smallest team in the history of our participation in the Champions League.
