Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid coach, believes that the team that wants to win the Champions League must defeat all other clubs, regardless of their strength.
The Italian coach’s statements came on the sidelines of the press conference for the Osasuna match in La Liga, which was held hours after the announcement of Real Madrid’s confrontation with Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Ancelotti was asked about the match, and he replied, “There is no reason to worry. We are optimistic. This draw is equal, and the match does not represent revenge for us.”
He also added, “Is Manchester City the favorite to win? There is no favorite to win, the balance is tied between the two teams.”
He concluded, “We lost the return match last year for obvious reasons. Now we are focusing on tomorrow’s match and we will think about the City match later.”
It is noteworthy that Real Madrid leads the Spanish League standings by 7 points from the closest competitors, and the duo will return Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois before facing City, which gives greater depth to coach Ancelotti’s roster.
