Sky Sports reported that Bayern Munich has contacted current Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbe in order to coach the Bavarian club next season.
Bayern is looking for a new coach to succeed Thomas Tuchel after the end of the current season, and Xabi Alonso’s name is still the favorite of the German club’s management.
In light of the difficulty of contracting with Alonso, Bayern’s management is looking at other names, led by De Zerbe, who enjoys great support and admiration from the new sporting director, Max Eberl.
Bayern has already contacted De Zerbe and informed him of its interest, but so far the Germans have not made their final decision on Tuchel’s successor pending the position of their preferred candidate, Xabi Alonso.
Perhaps this news is very worrying for Barcelona in particular, as the Catalan club places De Zerbe as its top priority to succeed Xavi Hernandez next season.
The biggest obstacle facing Barcelona to sign the Italian coach remains the release clause in his contract with Brighton, amounting to 14 million euros.
Now a new obstacle appears, which is Bayern Munich’s sudden interest in the former Shakhtar coach, especially since Bavarian will be able to pay the release clause and give De Zerbe a salary greater than Barca’s.
