Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller confirmed that he rejected a major offer from the Saudi club Al-Ittihad to take over as coach next season.
The “Tigers” are looking for a new coach after announcing the dismissal of Marcelo Gallardo from his position, and the name of former Milan coach Stefano Pioli was put forward as the closest person to this task.
But in the past few hours, Toppmöller’s name has come to light, and Al-Ittihad administration has already made an offer to sign him while his contract with Frankfurt is still valid until the summer of 2025.
The surprise is that despite the huge financial offer from Al-Ittihad, the German coach refused to leave Frankfurt, and justified this by saying, “I enjoy working here and I saw the great support from the club, so I decided that we would continue on the path that we chose together.”
Toppmöller choice was very strange, given that his coaching career is not long and without significant achievements.
The 43-year-old coach worked as Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant in coaching Bayern Munich and Leipzig, and his first experience as a coach in professional teams was with Frankfurt starting last season.
Toppmöller finished the Bundesliga with Frankfurt in sixth place.
