Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez refused to give up on the La Liga title, and stressed that his team is still a strong competitor for the title despite Real Madrid’s 8-point lead.
The Catalan club won 3-0 over Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, and with it regained second place in La Liga, taking advantage of Girona’s stumble with a 1-0 defeat from Getafe.
After the perfect match presented by the Catalans, Xavi spoke to the media, saying, “We are in our best moments this season. We have developed offensively and defensively.”
He also added, “Now we can dream. It is true that the distance with Real Madrid is still very large and that the matter is very complicated, but we will try.”
In this regard, he concluded by saying, “Football is a state of mind and we are in the best moment of the season.”
For his part, Barcelona captain, Sergi Roberto, agreed with what Xavi said, and continued, “Every match will be like a final. We are 8 points away from Real Madrid, but the good thing is that we will play a direct confrontation against them, and we can reduce this difference.”
It is noteworthy that only 9 matches remain until the end of the Spanish League competition, and Real Madrid can win the title if it achieves 20 points from them, far from what Barcelona will achieve in the same period.
