The president of Brazilian Palmeiras, Leila Pereira, confirmed that her club is not interested in signing Neymar da Silva due to his frequent injuries and his lack of readiness to play matches.
Pereira’s statements come after some news that appeared in the past few days that Palmeiras may be one of the clubs aspiring to sign Neymar if he leaves Al Hilal, whether in the winter or next summer.
However, the president of Palmeiras strongly ridiculed this news, as she said in press statements, “Neymar will not join Palmeiras, this club is not a hospital.”
She also added, “I want to sign a ready player who can participate tomorrow if the coach wants to.”
She concluded, “I will not accept signing a player who is not ready to participate.”
Neymar, 33, has only played 7 matches over the past year after suffering a torn cruciate ligament in October 2023, and then suffered a muscle injury two weeks ago with Al Hilal.
The Saudi club is said to not want the Brazilian to stay for long, but Neymar’s current intention is to fully fulfil his contract, play in the 2025 Club World Cup and then look for a new club.
Santos stands out as one of the options on Neymar’s table, alongside Inter Miami, after Lionel Messi reportedly wants the club to buy the Brazilian and recreate the historic MSN trilogy.
