Barcelona suffered a major blow after Alejandro Balde was confirmed to miss the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid due to injury.
The left-back left the Leganes match on Saturday with a muscle injury, and Hansi Flick stated that the situation is “not reassuring” pending the results of the tests.
Barcelona released an official statement on Sunday confirming that Balde had suffered a tear in the distal part of the hamstring muscle in his left thigh.
Barcelona’s statement declined to specify a timeframe for Balde’s recovery, stating only that it primarily depends on the speed of his recovery.
However, Spanish newspapers confirm that the player will need at least two weeks to return to action, making his participation in the final against Real Madrid on April 26 virtually impossible.
This will leave Barcelona without a left-back, with the exception of youngster Gerard Martin, during a crucial period during which they will play the Copa del Rey final, the Champions League semi-final, and important La Liga matches.
It is worth noting that Balde, 21, has participated in 43 matches in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing 10 assists.
