A major shock: Guardiola announces Haaland’s absence period

The injury curse continues to haunt Manchester City, and this time it has been Erling Haaland, who Pep Guardiola announced will be out for a long time.

Haaland left the 2025 FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth with a severe injury and was later seen walking on crutches as he left the Vitality Stadium.

According to Guardiola, Haaland will be out for between five and seven weeks, which means he won’t return until mid-May, specifically in the final two rounds of the Premier League.

City currently has one goal for Haaland: to be 100% fit for the Club World Cup, which is scheduled to begin in mid-June.

The Blues also hope to reach the FA Cup final, when the 23-year-old should be fit for the match at Wembley Stadium.

With Haaland’s injury, Omar Marmoush is expected to be the only available striker in City’s squad, and his prolonged absence suggests that the race for the Premier League’s top scorer is likely to end in favor of Mohamed Salah.

It’s worth noting that despite City’s poor season, Haaland has scored 30 goals in all competitions, 21 of which have come in the Premier League, while Salah leads the scoring charts with 27 goals with nine games remaining.
