All indications indicate that Carlo Ancelotti will remain Real Madrid’s coach next season, and all he needs to do is win a title this season to secure that.
Real Madrid has been linked with a contract with Xabi Alonso since last year, and it has been rumored that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen and take over as Real Madrid coach next summer, replacing Ancelotti.
According to Bild, Alonso is currently close to staying at Leverkusen for another season and fulfilling his contract until the summer of 2026.
The Spanish coach is currently looking for a new home in Germany, a clear indication that he intends to stay in the Bundesliga for a longer period despite the clear interest he has received from Real Madrid.
Real Madrid also appears to be keen to keep Ancelotti until the end of his contract, as a tribute to his achievements over his two terms. Alonso would then arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu without having to pay his release clause, as will be the case next summer.
Ancelotti faces harsh criticism for his style of play and the team’s failure to perform commensurate with the caliber of the existing stars. However, he enjoys the trust and unlimited support of most of Los Blancos’ players.
Real Madrid has reached the Champions League quarter-finals and will face Arsenal. It is also on the verge of reaching the Copa del Rey final and is second in La Liga.
