Al-Ahly’s historic unbeaten streak in the African Champions League has ended, after it tasted the bitterness of losing to Chabab Belouizdad 1-0 in the fourth round of the group stage.
The Red Devils had defeated Belouizdad in the first leg at Cairo International Stadium 6-1, a match that caused an earthquake at the time in the Algerian club and led to a strong reaction in the second leg.
The score remained 0-0 until the last minute, when Mohamed El-Shennawy made a fatal mistake after failing to stop an easy shot, which rebounded to Khasef Noufel and put it in Al-Ahly’s net.

In this way, Al-Ahly and its coach Marcel Koller’s historic unbeaten streak in the African Champions League ends at 27 matches.
With Belouizdad’s victory, the group also ignited two rounds before the end.
Al-Ahly leads the group with 7 points, while Belouizdad is now in second place with 6 points, then Orlando Pirates with 5 points and Stade d’Abidjan with one point.
Orlando Pirates now has a good chance to take the lead if they beat Stade d’Abidjan on Saturday.
