Famous journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that one of the giant Saudi clubs has great interest in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen next summer.
The German goalkeeper’s level has declined significantly over the past two years and he is being subjected to severe criticism because of this, but sources close to Barcelona confirm that the club refuses to give up on him so far.
According to Romano, Al-Ittihad Club is closely following Stegen, and there is a great desire to gain his services during the upcoming summer transfer period.
Al-Ittihad abandoned its goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe, and this season is relying on Abdullah Al-Mayouf, but the Saudi goalkeeper was unable to provide the expected addition from him, which made supporting this position an urgent necessity for Anmar Al-Haili’s management.
Al-Ittihad will have a large budget next summer to support the team after the very bad current season, and the Saudi club can make a huge offer in order to obtain Stegen’s signature.
Initially, it is said that Barcelona is not ready to listen to any offers for Stegen, but the Saudi offer expected to exceed 50 million euros may cause Joan Laporta’s management to change its refusal, especially since the economic crisis is worsening day after day at Camp Nou.
As for Stegen, the 32-year-old prefers to stay with Barcelona and has expressed this on every possible occasion, but a lot may change given the salary he may receive in Saudi Arabia, which is expected to exceed 30 million euros annually.
