It is now certain that Egyptian league clubs, especially the quartet of Al Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids, and Al Masry, will suffer from a congested schedule after a new decision by the Egyptian Football Association.
The federation issued a statement announcing the dates for the round of 16 matches of the 2023-2024 Egypt Cup, confirming that the competition will be completed after the end of the Egyptian league, which will conclude on August 17th.
A few days after the end of the league, the Egyptian national team’s camp will begin for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will continue until September 8, while the front four will participate in the African Champions League and Confederation in mid-September, and at the end of the month the African Super Cup will be played in Saudi Arabia.
In this way, the two seasons will overlap once again, and the players will not get any chance to rest, even if the league is postponed for a long time next season, considering that these clubs will likely qualify for the groups of the Champions League and Confederation Cup, and the matches will be played from October to December.
Below, we present the schedule for the round of 16 matches of the Egypt Cup.
