The newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” revealed that the Barcelona administration reached an agreement with Xavi Hernandez to remain as coach of the Catalan club until the summer of 2025.
The coach had announced his departure from his position at the end of this season after the decline in results at the beginning of the season, but the attempts of the Blaugrana management to change his decision have not stopped recently.
Xavi met with the Barca administration, headed by Joan Laporta, on Wednesday, and although initial news said that the result of the meeting was negative, things changed hours later.
The two parties reached an agreement under which Xavi would continue in his position and fulfill his current contract in full until the summer of 2025.
Joan Laporta is scheduled to go out to the media on Thursday in a press conference to announce the details of the agreement, the reason for Xavi’s continuation, and other matters.
It is noteworthy that Xavi arrived to coach Barcelona in 2022, and since then he has been able to win the Spanish League and the Spanish Super Cup.
