Real Madrid appears to be very close to concluding its second summer signing, as AS newspaper revealed advanced negotiations between Los Blancos and Bournemouth defender Dejan Huijsen .
Real Madrid’s original plan was to wait until 2026 to sign Huijsen, but the player’s recent performances in the Premier League and with the Spanish national team have led the club to want to sign him immediately next summer.
The 19-year-old has attracted interest from other clubs, most notably Liverpool, who view him as an ideal replacement for Virgil van Dijk. However, according to AS, the odds are firmly on Real Madrid’s side.
Huijsen holds both Spanish and Dutch citizenship, and during attempts to persuade him to represent La Roja, he told Spanish Football Federation officials that he dreams of one day wearing the Real Madrid shirt, which makes Los Blancos officials optimistic about the possibility of concluding this deal despite the expected fierce competition.
It’s worth noting that Huijsen could leave Bournemouth next summer for as little as €50 million, and alongside Liverpool and Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in his services.
