Bayern Munich’s management believes that it needs to sign a player in the left wing position next season, and it seems that it has already settled on the identity of who it will try to get next summer.
According to Sky Sports, the Bavarian club officials have identified the Spanish national team and Athletic Bilbao winger, Nico Williams, as the ideal option to support Vincent Kompany’s squad.
Bayern’s interest in Williams was not born of a moment, but the club has been closely following the 23-year-old for more than a year, and now the majority of opinions inside the Allianz Arena are in his favor.
Williams is not considered an expensive option for Bayern, as the German club will only need to pay 60 million euros, which is the value of the penalty clause in the player’s contract with Athletic Bilbao.
Williams was the focus of Barcelona’s interest last summer, before deciding to stay for another year with Athletic Bilbao in the hope of reaching the Europa League final, which is scheduled to be held at the Basque club’s stronghold in San Mames.
Bayern’s mission to sign Williams is not expected to be easy, as there are other clubs that are very interested in the player of Ghanaian origin, most notably Arsenal.
