The English Premier League title is still at stake after Arsenal succeeded in returning from Old Trafford with a valuable victory against Manchester United 1-0 in the penultimate round.
With this victory, Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League standings with 86 points, a match ahead of Manchester City, the current runner-up, with 85 points.
Many are wondering how Arsenal can achieve the title, and the reality is that the Gunners need help from their arch enemies, Tottenham, or from another London club, West Ham.
Spurs will meet City on Tuesday in a postponed match that will be played in the capital, London. Arsenal needs a win for Tottenham or a draw, and then its chances of winning the Premier League will increase.
Perhaps what fuels Arsenal’s hopes is that Tottenham will succeed in defeating the struggle of coach Ange Postecoglou’s battalion for the Champions League qualifying seat, as the team occupies fifth place, only 4 points behind Aston Villa, which is fourth.
But Tottenham fans do not seem very welcoming to the idea of going to the Champions League in exchange for Arsenal winning the Premier League shield, in the manner of Lazio and Roma in the early 2000s.
If City wins over Tottenham, Arsenal’s last hope will be for West Ham to succeed in winning or drawing with Pep Guardiola’s squad at Etihad Stadium in the final round, with the Gunners beating Everton by any result at the Emirates Stadium.
It remains to be noted that in the event of a tie in points, goal difference will be used to decide the champion, and so far Mikel Arteta’s squad has the advantage of +61 compared to +58 for the defending champion.
