Xavi Simons did not back down from his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, despite his great brilliance with the Netherlands national team in Euro 2024 and what could guarantee him a place in coach Luis Enrique’s squad.
Simons spent last season on loan at Leipzig and performed at outstanding levels in the Bundesliga, and is now supposed to be part of Enrique’s plans for next season.
But according to journalist Fabrizio Romano’s confirmations, Simons informed PSG officials two weeks ago that he does not want to return to the Parc des Princes stadium and wants to leave the French club in this Mercato, and with the end of his Euro journey, he now begins to focus solely on searching for a new club.
Perhaps the 19-year-old’s future will remain in Germany, where he is receiving great interest from Bayern Munich, led by sporting director Max Eberl, who signed him from Leipzig last year.
At the same time, Leipzig has not lost hope of keeping Simons, as it is trying to convince the player to continue for another year, while the Barcelona son has not made his final decision yet.
Generally, whoever acquires Simons’ services will be on loan again, but this time this is supposed to include a mandatory purchase clause.
It is worth noting that Barcelona was interested in signing Simons at the beginning of this summer, but the interest has dissipated recently and there are other options on the table of Joan Laporta’s management that have priority.
