After leaving Dortmund.. A surprising destination for Mats Hummels

Mats Hummels is about to announce the new club that will wear his shirt this season, and in a way it is surprising compared to the capabilities of one of the most important defenders of the past decade.

Hummels’ contract with Dortmund ended at the end of last season, and despite the exceptional level he presented at Signal Iduna Park, the German club’s management decided not to renew it due to his differences with former coach Edin Terzic.

Since then, Hummels has been linked with a move to several clubs, and at one point he was a candidate to join Real Madrid specifically after the failure of the Lenny Yoro deal.

But according to Sky Sports, the 35-year-old will join a Spanish club, Real Sociedad.

Hummels reached an agreement with Sociedad despite a large offer from the Premier League from Brighton, as well as another Spanish offer less than that from Real Mallorca.

It is noteworthy that the German defender was close to moving to Bologna to compensate for the departure of Calafiori, before the negotiations collapsed at the last moment.
