After Oman threatened to withdraw.. Two new decisions in the 26th Gulf Cup

The Gulf Football Association announced two new decisions regarding the semi-finals of the 2024 Gulf Cup and the final match.

The Kuwaiti Football Association had proposed postponing the Oman and Saudi Arabia match to be held on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, so that it would be played at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, which can accommodate 60,000 spectators, instead of Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium, which can accommodate only 15,000 spectators.

The Saudi Federation agreed to the proposal, and the Gulf Federation did not object, but the Omani Federation rejected the matter completely and threatened to withdraw, due to its belief that playing at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium would support Saudi Arabia in light of the very large public support for this version.

Ultimately, the Gulf Federation confirmed that the two semi-final matches will be played on their scheduled date next Tuesday, and Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium will continue to be the stronghold for the Oman and Saudi Arabia match.

In the same context, the Gulf Federation decided to postpone the final match for 24 hours, to be held on Saturday, January 4 instead of Friday, January 3.

This decision aims to give the two teams qualified for the final match a longer period of rest in the hope of watching a match that is up to the event, and the four semi-finalists agreed to the idea.
