The British newspaper “Express” reported that Al-Ahly entered the race to sign Sevilla star Kelechi Iheanacho in the current winter Mercato.
Iheanacho has completely left coach Garcia Pimienta’s calculations, and Sevilla is looking for a way out for him in January, whether on loan with a purchase clause, or selling him permanently.
According to the latest report, there are a large number of clubs interested in signing Iheanacho, most notably clubs from America and Turkey without revealing their identity.
The British newspaper only revealed the identity of one club, Al-Ahly, as one of the clubs aspiring to sign the Nigerian international, while tempting him with the card of playing in the 2025 Club World Cup.
It remains unknown whether Al-Ahly will be able to pay the huge salary that Iheanacho receives in La Liga or that he may receive in Turkey and America.
Iheanacho has not scored a goal in La Liga this season, but has scored three goals in the Copa del Rey, and his total minutes of participation with Sevilla were only 401.
The 28-year-old has a long career in Europe, having previously represented Manchester City, and also played for Leicester City before moving to Sevilla last summer on a free transfer.
