Officially: The Club Association awards Zamalek points for the Al-Ahly match

The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association announced that Al Ahly had been awarded a 3-0 defeat by Zamalek for not attending Cairo Stadium, deducting three points from their points and imposing a fine for withdrawing.

Al Ahly refused to participate in the summit match because the match was not assigned to a foreign referee, contrary to the previous decision of the Clubs Association.

Two hours earlier, Al Ahly issued an official statement announcing that it had filed a complaint against the Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association with the Egyptian Olympic Committee.

Al Ahly’s statement stated that the board of directors, headed by Mahmoud El Khatib, decided to file a complaint with the Egyptian Olympic Committee against both the Egyptian Football Association and the Clubs Association regarding the irregularities in the summit match and the decision to hold it with Egyptian referees, in violation of the Clubs Association’s decision.

Al Ahly’s position on completing the Egyptian Premier League remains unknown. According to the initial statement released on the eve of the summit match, the Red Devils are expected to withdraw from the competition entirely.

It should be noted that Al Ahly has 36 points (after the deduction), in second place, one point behind third-placed Zamalek, and seven points behind leaders Pyramids FC.
