Al-Ahly is trying to sign a former Real Madrid striker!

Marca newspaper revealed that Al-Ahly of Egypt is trying to sign a former Real Madrid striker in preparation for the 2025 Club World Cup.

Al-Ahly announced on Sunday that it had signed Hamdi Fathi on loan from Al-Wakrah to be the first reinforcement in the Club World Cup scheduled for June 2025.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Al-Ahly’s management is currently working on signing former Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.

Perhaps Diaz’s joining Al-Ahly may be early and not in the summer, as is the case with Hamdi Fathi, given that he is currently without a club and can be signed for free.

The Dominican international’s last experience was with Sevilla last season, and it was not successful as he failed to score any goals in 13 matches in all tournaments, to leave at the end of his contract in June 2024.

Al-Ahly is currently looking for a new striker to strengthen its ranks after Mahmoud “Kahraba” failed to play the role of substitute striker for Wissam Abu Ali.

With 31-year-old Diaz not receiving many offers recently, the opportunity to join Al-Ahly may attract him, especially since it will guarantee him participation in the Club World Cup and return to the spotlight again.

Diaz’s salary remains the only obstacle to the deal, despite all the circumstances, the former Real Madrid player’s salary remains large for Al-Ahly.

It is worth noting that Diaz is the second striker whose name has been put forward recently to support Al-Ahly before the World Cup, as Qatari newspapers said that there are attempts to obtain Baghdad Bounedjah from Al-Arabi of Qatar in the same way as Hamdi Fathi, on loan.
