Many rumors have spread in the last hours that the management of Al-Ahly of Egypt will try to contract with Cristiano Ronaldo to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup.
The “Don” contract with Al-Nassr ends at the end of the current season, and there were hopes that he would participate in the Club World Cup to repeat his competition with Lionel Messi, who will play in the tournament with the host Inter Miami.
It was said that many international companies may finance Al-Ahly in order to contract with Ronaldo, and accordingly the opening match of the Club World Cup will be between the Portuguese and Messi, which will generate historic returns for all parties.
A source from Al-Ahly responded to these rumors through the “Kooora” website, denying the validity of what was circulated, and stressing the impossibility of the idea.
The unnamed source said that the salary that Ronaldo receives makes the idea of Al-Ahly contracting with him imaginary, and far from reality.
Ronaldo receives 200 million euros annually from Al-Nasr, or 1.6 billion pounds, which is more than the budget of Egyptian sports itself, and several times the budget of sports activities in Al-Ahly.
Ronaldo is expected to stay with Al-Nassr for another year, amid intense negotiations between the Saudi club and the 39-year-old to continue with the “Knight of Najd” until the 2026 World Cup.
