Al-Ahly settles on an “interim coach” to succeed Koller

Al-Ahly’s management has decided to appoint an interim Egyptian coach to succeed Swiss Marcel Koller.

The Red Devils have six matches remaining in the Egyptian Premier League, after which their journey to the 2025 Club World Cup begins in mid-May.

There are voices calling for the immediate appointment of a new foreign coach to replace Koller, but the management prefers to wait and avoid rushing to appoint a new permanent coach.

According to Egyptian media reports, Al-Ahly has decided to appoint Emad El-Nahhas as interim coach until a new coach is hired, either in the coming days or at the end of the season.

Mohamed Shawky will be El-Nahhas’ assistant, while Mohamed Youssef will be appointed as the sporting director, succeeding the resigned Mohamed Ramadan.

El-Nahhas has extensive experience in the Egyptian Premier League as a coach, having worked with Aswan, Sharqia, Tanta, and Tala’ea El-Geish. His most successful experience was with Arab Contractors, when he led Osman Ahmed Osman’s team to reach the Confederation Cup for the first time in decades.
