Al-Ahly shocks its star and informs him of dispensing with his services!

Al-Ahly’s sporting director, Mohamed Ramadan, announced that Ali Maaloul will leave the Red Castle at the end of this season.

The Tunisian star suffered an Achilles tendon injury during his participation last season in the African Champions League final against Esperance, and he needs a long time to recover from his injury and return to participate in matches again.

Despite the great history that Maaloul has with Al-Ahly, the Egyptian club believes that he will not benefit from his presence and it is better to look for another foreign player in coach Marcel Koller’s list.

Mohamed Ramadan said in this regard, “I agreed with Ali Maaloul that the current season is his last with Al-Ahly.”

He also added, “We renewed Maaloul’s contract for another year in appreciation of what he has provided with Al-Ahly throughout his career.”

He continued, “We agreed with him not to register him until he recovers from the injury, and he told us that he will return in November and then he needs weeks until he can participate in matches.”

He concluded, “The decision to participate at that time or register him in the list will be in Koller’s hands.”

The 34-year-old Maaloul joined Al Ahly in 2016, and since then he has played 287 matches, scoring 51 goals and making 83 others, while achieving many titles, including 6 Egyptian Premier League titles and 4 African Champions League titles.
