Al-Hilal clinched the 2024 Saudi Super Cup title after a resounding 4-1 victory over Al-Nassr in the final at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.
Cristiano Ronaldo managed to give Al-Nassr the lead in the 43rd minute of the first half, but Al-Hilal’s response was brutal in the second half.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalized in the 55th minute, followed by a brace from Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 63rd and 69th minutes, and a fatal error from goalkeeper Bento was exploited by Malcom to make it 4-1 in the 71st minute.
This is the sixth consecutive match in which Al-Nassr has failed to beat Al-Hilal in the last year, with their last victory coming in the final of the Arab Club Championship (a friendly match) in August 2023.
This defeat puts the future of coach Luis Castro in jeopardy, as before the start of the Super Cup, it was said that failure to win the title would mean his dismissal just days before the start of the Saudi league.
