The Saudi newspaper “Al-Riyadiyah” has reported that Al-Hilal’s management has reached an agreement with its counterpart at Manchester City to purchase Joao Cancelo.
The Blue Wave is looking to strengthen the right-back position after the departure of Saud Abdulhamid to Roma.
The option of signing Cancelo was the first on the Saudi club’s list, which also inquired about another City star, Kyle Walker.
Ultimately, it seems that Cancelo is the one who will wear the Al-Hilal shirt, as the “Blue Wave” is ready to pay 35 million euros to secure his services.
This news comes despite rumors that Barcelona would try once again to sign Cancelo in the final hours of the transfer window, despite the dire economic crisis at Camp Nou.
Barcelona’s crisis, which makes Al-Hilal closer to signing the Portuguese player, lies in the fact that Barca is unable to pay the money to buy the player or even register him in their squad without selling other players.
