The new president of Al-Ittihad Club, Louay Hisham Nazer, announced the dismissal of coach Marcelo Gallardo from his position due to his disagreements with Karim Benzema and poor results last season.
Nazer said in statements to the media, “We are now working on hiring a new coach to consult with him about this summer’s deals.”
Nazer explained Gallardo’s dismissal by saying, “The coach committed many mistakes, most notably his desire for Karim Benzema to leave. This is a red line and it is impossible to abandon him.”
Meanwhile, Italian press reports confirmed that Al-Ittihad is negotiating with former Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
According to reports, Al-Ittihad offered Pioli a two-year contract with the option to renew for another year, with a legendary salary that would make him one of the highest paid in the world.
Until now, Pioli’s decision to accept the mission or not remains unknown, but it is expected that he will be inclined to agree given the large financial compensation that awaits him in the city of Jeddah.
It is noteworthy that when he left Milan, Pioli said that he was learning English in the hope of one day working in the English Premier League.
It is also worth noting that the president of Al-Ittihad announced the presence of 3 world-class candidates to coach the team, meaning that there are two other names competing with Pioli to lead the “Jeddah Tigers.”
