Al-Nassr coach, Luis Castro, has confirmed that the club will not be making any major signings during the current summer transfer window, stating that the events of last year will not be repeated.
So far, the Saudi club has only signed Brazilian goalkeeper Bento, and Castro doesn’t anticipate adding more than one other player.
In statements published by Al-Riyadiyah newspaper, the coach said, “We have Bento in goal, Laporte and Telles in defense, Brozovic and Otavio in midfield, and Mane, Talisca, and Ronaldo up front; that’s eight foreign professionals.”
He added, “I don’t think we’ll make any major signings from the European market this summer. Last summer was exceptional for all Saudi clubs.”
He concluded, “Maybe we’ll try to sign one more player at most, but what happened last summer won’t happen again.”
Castro’s statements come amid links to Al-Nassr signing several big-name players, most recently Dani Olmo.
It is expected that the only remaining signing for Al-Nassr from Europe will be a central defender, as this is currently the only problem area in the Saudi team’s squad.
