South Korea hosted the 2023 Asian Player of the Year Awards ceremony in the capital, Seoul, and as usual, there was great Arab participation in various awards.
Qatari star Akram Afif won the award for the best player in Asia after leading his country to win the 2023 Asian Cup title and was the top scorer in the competition and scored a hat-trick in the final match.
Afif was competing with another Arab star, Yazan Al-Naimat, who shone in the Qatari league and with the Jordanian national team, but the votes tipped the scales in favor of the star of Qatari Al-Sadd.
In bad news for Arab fans, Jordanian Musa Al-Taamari lost the award for the best Asian professional in the world 2023.
Al-Taamari was competing with Iranian Mehdi Taremi and South Korean Heung-Min Son, and the latter won the award for the second time in a row.
Go Iwa won the award for the best coach in Asia 2023 for what he presented with the Japanese U-23 national team.
