Barcelona received encouraging news before traveling to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Spanish Super Cup.
Coach Hansi Flick announced that Lamine Yamal is ready to participate in the Super Cup matches after fully recovering from his injury.
Initial estimates when Yamal was injured in mid-December suggested he would need at least a month to recover, which would have ruled him out of the Super Cup.
However, after Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, Flick confirmed that Yamal will travel with the team to Saudi Arabia and will be ready to play in the Super Cup.
At the same time, the German coach reassured everyone about Raphinha’s condition after he was left out of the match against Barbastro, which raised questions about a potential injury.
Flick said in this regard, “Raphinha experienced some discomfort, but he trained with us afterward without any issues, and I decided not to include him in the match to give him some rest.”
Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday in the Super Cup semi-final. If they win, they will meet the winner of the Real Madrid vs. Mallorca match in the final on Sunday.
