“The Athletic” network reported that Real Madrid’s management is setting its sights on signing Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi to be Dani Carvajal’s successor in the right-back position.
Hakimi is one of the sons of Real Madrid, but he did not succeed in securing a starting position within the Santiago Bernabeu and left for Borussia Dortmund and Inter, before PSG included him in 2021 for 70 million euros.
Florentino Perez’s management is aware of the team’s need for a right-back with Dani Carvajal’s advanced age, and is specifically targeting Hakimi to sign him, but in the summer of 2025 and not now.
Perhaps Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid would strengthen Hakimi’s choice, given the strength of the relationship that linked the duo over the last 3 years at the Princes’ Park Stadium, and the Moroccan is even the Frenchman’s closest friend currently.
Real Madrid’s task may be much easier to include the 25-year-old next summer, as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer of 2026, and the French club will be lenient in selling him instead of him leaving for free the following year.
It is noteworthy that Hakimi participated with Real Madrid in only 17 matches, during which he scored two goals and made another. He also won the Champions League once with Zinedine Zidane’s squad.
