Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti stressed the need for self-criticism and optimism to progress, expressing his regret over the boos the team was subjected to at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid fans attacked the coach and players in the last match against Celta Vigo in the King’s Cup, expressing their anger after losing 5-2 in the Clasico in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Real Madrid managed to overcome Celta Vigo, then managed to beat Las Palmas on Sunday 4-1, so Ancelotti came out and boasted about what he had presented and responded to the harsh criticism he has been subjected to recently.
The Italian coach said, “There is constant criticism. The boos at the Santiago Bernabéu hurt, because the fans are not happy, but they motivated us. It was a useful wake-up call and we performed well after that.”
“It’s football, but I’m still a bit confused because I’ve heard that we play very bad football, but here we are, at the top of La Liga,” he added.
“In difficult times, it’s necessary to be self-critical and positive in order to move forward,” he concluded.
Real Madrid lead the La Liga standings with 46 points, two ahead of arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona are seven points behind after drawing 1-1 with Getafe
