Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that his team’s 4-0 loss to Barcelona was avoidable, and that this result does not exactly reflect how the Clasico went.
The advantage was clear to Real in the first half, but the Italian coach’s team clearly suffered from falling into the offside trap in an exaggerated manner, which prevented the goals from being scored.
Ancelotti spoke to the media after the match and said: “The result does not reflect what really happened on the pitch, yes Barcelona deserved to win, but the match was very close until they scored the first goal.”
He added: “We played a good first half and even they were able to score, we conceded a second goal quickly and they took advantage of the fact that we changed the way of playing to respond to their lead.”
He continued: “We feel hurt now, it is a difficult moment but we will not give up, the season is still long.”
As for the offsides, he said, “Mbappe could have scored 3 or 4 goals, we needed more accuracy. The offsides were logical because of Barcelona’s style of play and I wasn’t surprised by them.”
He concluded, “The last time we lost 4-0 to Barcelona, we won La Liga and the Champions League, we won’t give up and we will keep fighting until the end.”
It is worth noting that the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga has widened to 6 points after the first 11 rounds of the competition.
