Ancelotti: We want a “clean La Liga” and I’m happy to face Atletico in the Champions League!

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that the identity of the Spanish league champion this season will be determined in the final round of the competition due to the strength of the competition.

Real share the top spot with Barcelona with 51 points each, with the Blaugrana ahead on goal difference, while Atletico Madrid are third with 50 points.

Ahead of the Girona match scheduled for Sunday, Ancelotti was asked about the competition for the La Liga title, and he replied: “It is difficult to find another league with the same level of competition as in Spain this year.”

He added: “There are not many competing in Italy, and in Italy there is one dominant team, which is Liverpool, but here there are three competing clubs with one point between them and great quality, La Liga will be decided in the final round.”

He explained: “I stick to my opinion, I want the competition to be as clean as possible.”

“We suffered from bad luck in the last matches. We played well in the last 3 matches but we didn’t win. We have to continue like this because if you play well and maintain that, the result will come as a reward in the end,” he continued.

As for the match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16, the Italian commented by saying, “It is difficult as usual.. It will be an enjoyable and balanced match.. The last two matches ended in a draw, and the quality of the two teams is similar.”
