Another star leaves the Saudi league and returns to Europe

Ivan Rakitic, the star of Al-Shabab club, has reached an agreement with the Croatian club Hajduk Split to join its ranks during the current summer transfer window.

Rakitic spent only 6 months with Al-Shabab after joining them last winter, and now he has decided to return to Europe for the first time in his career.

Rakitic informed Al-Shabab officials of his desire to leave and play for Hajduk Split, which is coached by the Italian Gennaro Gattuso.

It has not been revealed whether Hajduk Split will pay a fee to acquire the 36-year-old, although it is most likely that Al-Shabab will terminate his contract and allow him to leave for free.

Rakitic played only 8 matches in all competitions last season with Al-Shabab, scoring one goal and providing another after joining the capital club from Sevilla on a free transfer.

Rakitic is the second major foreign player to leave Saudi Arabia this summer after Alan Saint-Maximin left Al-Ahli and joined Fenerbahce on loan.
