Mundo Deportivo reported that Ronald Araujo told Barcelona players that he is unhappy at Barca and is seriously considering leaving during the current winter Mercato.
Barcelona’s management made two offers to Araujo to renew his contract in 2024, but he did not respond positively or negatively, and negotiations between the two parties recently resumed without reaching a result so far.
According to the newspaper close to Barca, Araujo expressed to Barcelona players that he is not feeling comfortable at the moment and his desire to play continuously.
The Uruguayan coach believes that the duo of Inigo Martinez and Pau Coparsi in the heart of Barcelona’s defense is fixed and difficult to change, and therefore he does not expect him to participate much until the end of the season.
For this reason, Araujo believes that the best option to ensure continuous participation is to join another club that guarantees him playing, and he initially prefers to move to the English Premier League.
At the same time, Joan Laporta’s administration is aware of the current situation, which is why it has set the price at which it will agree to sell the player whose contract at Camp Nou extends until the summer of 2026.
Initially, Barcelona wants between 60 and 70 million euros, but this value is likely to be reduced to only 50 million euros.
Despite his preference for the English Premier League, Juventus remains the most likely destination for the 23-year-old.
Italian media have confirmed that Araujo has accepted an offer from Juventus in recent days, and the Bianconeri and Barcelona still need to agree on the mechanism of the deal.
Juventus are seeking to sign Araujo on loan until the end of the season, with a mandatory purchase clause of 40 million euros in the summer, which Barcelona will reject due to their desire for more money.
