Arteta threatens Liverpool ahead of Premier League summit

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that his team will appear in a very different image when they face Liverpool next week in the Premier League.

The Spanish coach’s statements came after the English club’s 1-0 victory over Shakhtar in the third round of the Champions League.

Arteta spoke about the poor performance of his team, saying, “We lacked sharpness with and without the ball to recover it in the right moments and areas, we lost some balls and missed a penalty kick.”

He also added, “Our opponent deserves credit, they posed a real threat to us, but it is the Champions League and in the end we won and kept a clean sheet, this is the most important thing.”

He continued, “Our players are exhausted, without a doubt, we played two days ago and before that they were returning from the national teams and from long trips, it was expected that we would show some decline against Shakhtar.”

“We now have four days to prepare for the next match, believe me by Sunday we will be at our best against Liverpool,” he concluded.

Liverpool lead the Premier League standings with 21 points, while Arsenal suffered their first domestic defeat of the season in the last round against Bournemouth and have 17 points in third place.
