Athletic Bilbao won the King’s Cup after defeating Real Mallorca on penalties after the end of regular and extra time in a 1-1 draw.
Although Mallorca took the lead in the 21st minute through Daniel Rodriguez, Oihan Sassent succeeded in making an adjustment in the 50th minute for coach Ernesto Valverde’s squad.
With the end of regular time in a tie, the two teams resorted to extra time, and the situation remained as it was until penalty kicks were decided to decide the identity of the champion of the competition.
Lucky kicks smiled at Athletic Bilbao, as the Basque club achieved the twenty-fifth title in its history, and the first since 1984.
Bilbao has guaranteed its participation in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, along with the Spanish League champion and runner-up, and Mallorca will also participate.
Now we leave you with an exciting penalty shootout marathon.
