Atletico Madrid failed to reach the top of the Spanish League after being defeated by Getafe 2-1 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in round 27.
The opportunity was favorable for Diego Simeone’s team to put pressure on Barcelona and reach the top after the postponement of the Blaugrana and Osasuna match on Saturday, and the victory was enough for the Rojiblancos to regain first place.
Atletico actually took the lead through Alexander Sorloth from a penalty kick in the 75th minute and everyone thought that the capital club had secured the three points.

But starting from the 88th minute, things turned upside down, as Angel Correa received a red card, then Mauro Arambarri equalized for the home team.

In the 92nd minute, Arambarri scored the second goal for him and Getafe and ended the hopes of Simeone’s men to come out with even a point that would make them temporarily equal with Barcelona at the top.
