Atletico Madrid has succeeded in reaching an agreement with Barcelona star Marcos Alonso to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Alonso’s contract with the Catalan club expires at the end of this season, and he has agreed with Barca not to renew it, so he will be the first to leave for free in the next summer Mercato.
According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, the negotiations between Alonso and the management of Atletico Madrid are in very advanced stages and it is a matter of time and contracts will be signed between the two parties.
Coach Diego Simeone wants to support his defense line with an experienced player, which is what he found in Alonso, who will give him the additional advantage of being able to also play in the left-back position.
The 33-year-old missed Barcelona for most of this season due to a back injury, as he only participated in 7 matches for a total of only 299 minutes.
It remains to be noted that the Spanish media confirms that Alonso is not the only target for Atletico from Barcelona, but also striker Robert Lewandowski, but the matter here seems very complicated and expensive.
