Atletico Madrid stuns Real Madrid with a goal in the 27th second!

Conor Gallagher opened the scoring early in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid had won the first leg 2-1, leaving Diego Simeone’s side needing a goal to level the score and then begin searching for another to advance to the quarter-finals.

At a packed Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, the Rojiblancos needed no more than 27 seconds to score.

Marcos Llorente’s cross was touched by Julian Alvarez with his heel and reached Gallagher, who in turn slotted it past Thibaut Courtois to give his team the lead.

Gallagher’s goal is the fastest goal in Atlético Madrid’s Champions League history, and the second-fastest goal Real Madrid have conceded in the competition’s history, after Roy Makaay’s in 2007.

Gallagher, who moved from Chelsea, is the first English player in history to score in the Madrid derby.
