Atletico Madrid took the lead through César Azpilicueta in the 38th minute, before the hosts equalized through Boadu in the 71st minute from a penalty kick.
This is the third consecutive stumble for Los Rojiblancos in La Liga, after losing their last two matches to Getafe and Barcelona, including a penalty shootout defeat to city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Diego Simeone’s side’s La Liga title hopes have been effectively dashed, with the team now sitting in third place with 57 points.
If Barcelona wins this round against Girona, the Catalans will reach 63 points, leaving them nine points behind Atletico with just nine rounds remaining.
Real Madrid are second with 60 points and have a good chance of pulling away from Atletico if Carlo Ancelotti’s men beat Leganes on Saturday.
