Jurgen Klopp surprised everyone by returning from his announced one-year vacation away from football, after taking on the position of global president of football at Red Bull.
Red Bull owns 5 football clubs around the world, most notably the German trio Leipzig, Austrian Salzburg and American New York.
Despite Klopp previously announcing that he had not worked in football for a year after leaving Liverpool last June, he decided to return from a new position that he had never worked in before.
The German’s duties in his new position will begin next January, and will include providing a future vision, supporting sports directors and scouts, and contributing to the development of coaches.
According to Sky Sports, Klopp has maintained his chances of returning to coaching again, by including a penalty clause that allows him to leave Red Bull to coach the German national team after Julian Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann’s current contract with the German national team runs until the 2026 World Cup, and it is expected that he will leave the coaching of the Mannschaft after that, a job that appears to have received great interest from Klopp.
