The “El Chiringuito” program reported that the Barcelona administration has its sights set on signing Xavi Simons, the Paris Saint-Germain player who is loaned to Leipzig.
The 21-year-old is a member of the La Masia academy, but in 2019 he moved to Paris Saint-Germain’s youth team after the end of his contract with the Catalan club.
According to the report, Simons’ remarkable brilliance in Germany this season has made Barca’s management reconsider returning him to Camp Nou next summer.
But logically, the task seems very difficult, as the Paris administration views Simons as one of those who can carry the team’s banner after the expected departure of Kylian Mbappe at the end of the current season.
However, Simons’ own desire to leave the Parc des Princes and his lack of belief that he will play a major role there is increasing the pressure on Paris to allow him back to Barcelona.
The Leipzig management had announced that it would try to extend Simons’ loan for another year, and if Paris agreed to the loan idea, Barcelona would have the opportunity to try to include the player next summer in this way.
It remains to be noted that Xavi Simons played 41 matches this season with Leipzig in all tournaments, during which he scored 9 goals in addition to assisting 15 other goals.
