Barcelona reassured its fans about the team’s star Gavi after the injury that led to him being transferred to the hospital during the Alaves match on Sunday.
Gavi collided with Alaves player Konecny’s head in the ninth minute, and was then transferred to the hospital after suffering a concussion.
Barcelona’s statement stated that Gavi did not lose consciousness, and that he underwent the necessary medical examinations upon his arrival at the hospital and it was proven that he was fine.
The 20-year-old returned home again and will be closely monitored in the coming days to ensure that there are no lasting effects of the recent concussion.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke about Gavi’s condition, saying, “I spoke to him and he is fine. He wanted to continue on the field, but we took him out as a precaution. He is fine and there is no need to worry.”
Unless there is any new development, Gavi will be part of Hansi Flick’s squad that will travel to Mestalla to face Valencia in the quarter-finals of the King’s Cup.
