Barcelona club confirmed in an official statement that its young player Marc Bernal will be out of the stadiums for a whole year due to injury.
Bernal was injured during the match against Rayo Vallecano in the third round of the Spanish League, after he became a basic patch in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Bernal was diagnosed with a cruciate ligament rupture, an injury that threatens his career in general if he does not recover from it in the required manner.
According to Barcelona’s statement, Bernal underwent surgery on his left knee on Monday, and because of it he will not be able to participate in training for 12 months.
Flick had previously expressed his disappointment with Bernal’s injury, as he saw him as the one who would lead his team’s midfield in the coming period after his amazing performance since the beginning of the season.
Thus, Bernal, 17 years old, will not even catch up with the preparation period for the next season, to be completely out of the calculations until his recovery is complete and we see how he will deal with things after returning from injury.
