Rafa Yoseti, Vice President of Barcelona, confirmed that he hopes that Xavi Hernandez will continue in his position as coach of the Catalan club next season.
Yosetti’s statements came in the wake of Barcelona qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Napoli 3-1 in the second leg at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium.
Yosetti said that Xavi “is well aware of what is on his mind regarding his future” and hopes that he will continue and fulfill his contract until the summer of 2025 as planned.
Yosetti refused to talk about the names proposed to succeed Xavi, stressing only that he “loves Xavi,” wants him to continue, and is waiting for what will happen in the coming days.
For his part, Xavi returned and confirmed that he will leave coaching the Blaugrana next summer, even if he succeeds in winning the Champions League at the end of the current season.
The coach, speaking to the media after the Napoli match, clearly said that now is the time for change in Barcelona and that his decision is final and will not change no matter what happens in the coming months.
